This video will show you how to create a registry key in your registry that will disable a non essential background process running in your computers operating system. The last access update timestamp exists in your system for updating reporting services in the background of Windows Vista. For those of you who never use these reporting services (which is most of you) – you will find this service completely useless to you. That is why it is a good idea to disable it for all of you who don’t need it.

This video will show you how to create a registry key in your registry that will disable a non essential background process running in your computer’s operating system. The 8.3 naming convention was engineered for older DOS based systems as a 8.3 filename system that included only 8 characters. This system has been dropped for quite a long time, but the adaptation is still built into your Windows Vista operating system in the off chance you attempt to run any DOS based legacy software on your computer. For most of you, that means this service is completely and utterly useless, so lets delete it.

This video will show you how to create a registry key in your registry that will disable a non essential background process running in your computer’s operating system. Windows Vista, like the other operating systems, always polls your computer’s hard drive to check the amount of disk space that is left on it. If it reaches a certain percentage quota, it will begin to notify you, over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again that your hard drive is low on disk space. If you are like me, you don’t like windows notifying you about such things… lets disable this pesky rascal.

Today’s Faster vista video shows you how to adjust the search index indexing service to a secondary hard drive. The reason this is helpful is because your current hard drive utilizes overhead in order to consistently index the files on your system for the search indexing system. This is a very straight forward and easy thing to do in the Windows Operating system. Unfortunately, it is only useful to those of you who already have more than one hard drive on their computer. Stay tuned though, there are always more videos in the pipeline you may find helpful.

Today’s video will walk you through shifting the virtual memory paging file to a secondary hard drive. This is a great speedup tip for those of you who are running a secondary hard drive on your computer because it will allow your operating system to reference the second hard drive instead of the primary for your virtual memory. In non-geek terms, that basically means if virtual memory is needed your computer will use the data collection from a different drive which reduces the amount of resources used on the primary drive.
