Faster Vista! [HD] Ep. 16: Disable the Sidebar from Automatic Startup and Close it Permanently

Today’s video will show you how to disable the Windows Vista sidebar from automatically starting on Windows Vista startup and closing it permanently.  The windows sidebar is a nifty utility for those of you who like to have gadgets on your desktop – if you are like me, however, and have very few resources on your computer system – disabling every little bit you can to get the most out of your system helps.  So I opted for removing my sidebar, and if you find yourself not using it’s features, you may want to also – this video will show you how.

your right, the sidebar does use loads of resources, over 50MB on my 3 year old laptop. I like it for performance monitoring, currency conversion, wifi radar. handy calculator. Up until recently, i always had it on startup, but it does add 30 seconds to the boot time maybe more. I just have it on manual start now. I have 2GB RAM and I never use more than 1,5GB.
