Faster Vista! [HD] Ep. 17: Increase Shutdown Speed by Forcing Applications to Close Quicker
Friday, December 18, 2009 16:28Today’s video will show you how to modify an entry within your registry to enhance the shutdown speeds of your Windows Vista operating system. There is a registry key built into windows that tells Vista to sit and wait for any open applications to close. By default, this wait time is set at 20 seconds!! For those of us who don’t really care about clean shutdowns, nor do we really care about waiting for things to force close (because obviously we tried to shut down the computer while things were open) – we might as well all but eliminate this timeframe. Now typically I recommend setting it to 5 seconds (5000 milliseconds), but that is up to you.
