Some days I wonder if technology is all it is cracked up to be. Sometimes I get home from work and try my best to disconnect from the workload and find myself having extreme trouble. Even as I speak, my father is on vacation and I can see from monitoring his e-mail while he is gone that he is still responding to customers and contacts while out vacationing.

At some point technology became so accessible that it made it extremely difficult to detach from. It isn't every day that I can go home and not constantly check my e-mail, video views, page views, Adsense earnings or anything else that may make me obsess about how the online business is going.

In alot of ways technology has made my job easier, but in most cases, if we aren't careful – we just let ourselves take on a larger load. We say, "Oh? This task is easier? Now I can spend more time on A or B instead of C." So if we are not PROactive in making sure we are letting technology take the burden off, most of the time we are actually taking on more of a burden and overwhelming ourselves.

It is something to think about…

So really, has technology improved your life? Do you let it? In what areas? What is your strategy?

Technology has allowed me to learn skills that I probably never would have learned if I hadn't experienced it so early. The internet allows me to acquire information like a sponge. I became interested in certain things and definitely allowed me to develop a hobby or two. It gives me something to do when I am bored or done with other tasks. Take this for example…

Without the Internet and Technology, I would not be helping moderate or answer people's computer problems on this forum. I wouldn't have the knowledge, nor the know-how to socialize the way I do now. I wouldn't have the opportunity to help multiple YouTuber's and make some interesting contacts and friends. I wouldn't have been offered some of the career opportunities and possible internships without my technology. I based my life around a technology, so it is hard to escape it, but it is also what I do. So I don't necessarily call it a burden if that is mainly what you go to anyways.

I would say technology has helped my life in more ways than it has either "discredited" it or hindered me.

I do every once in awhile "disconnect" from my tech lifestyle, but I am usually back within a day. Its nice to disconnect, but it is also nice to see your blog get 300+ pageviews while you were gone. ;)

A word without meaning is very fickle indeed.Check out my blog @ http://idlegeek.wordpress.com/
