This has been a debate since the Google Android platform just debuted a few years ago. It is amazing how far the Android platform has come in such a small period of time, claiming an upward of 5% of the overall smartphone market.
Now we all know there are "fanboys" and "fangirls" on each side of the aisle, but seriously, there are advantages and disadvantages to both platforms… I'm tired of people saying "YES! ANDROID! AHHH! IPHONE BAD!!" or "IPHONE GOOD! ANDROID SUCK! NO!"
If you own an Apple iPhone, here are some of the luxuries you get to enjoy. A stable platform, because there really is only one phone to choose from per year. Good performance from the Apps, because developers only NEED to develop and test their apps for one phone every year and a far larger selection of Apps, since your market has been in existence far longer than the Google Market.
If you own an Android device, there are some benefits as well. A decently stable platform, if you are smart enough to go with an HTC or Motorola phone (most developers test on those platforms). Amazing hardware performance, because phone manufacturers are competing with one another to get YOUR business – they want to "outspeed" their competition. Choices, choices and more choices when it comes to phones – manufacturers are competing with one another to create a personal and customizable experience just for you to get you to purchase a phone. More flexibility, these phones have more capabilities to hardcore users for tapping into the platform through rooting or tweaking. Oh, and did I mention no iTunes requirement?
So seriously, stop fighting over this issue, there are advantages and disadvantages to both! Both are great platforms, it really depends on what YOU want. I'm just happy Apple has some competition to keep them on their toes – the more competition, the better the product us end users get!
