Well, as I sat and looked at my statistics, pageviews and overall viewership I became very depressed. What am I doing wrong? I wondered. Let me elaborate.

There are many tutorialists on YouTube who build adequate tutorials as well as… well.. completely messy and disorganized tutorials. So I did some digging to see how they were doing, lo and behold, not only did many of them have more subscribers than me, but many of them also had sometimes 10 to 15 times LESS videos and content than I had published.

Then, it hit me like a ton of bricks. Of course! What was I thinking spending all of this time generating quality content?! People don't find quality content on the internet, they find PROMOTED content on the internet.

This has been my primary fallback over the past two years of managing this website, and I aim to change it.

When  it comes to the internet, people don't follow spammers, they don't follow businesses – they follow PEOPLE. People who are genuine and interesting. Just look at individuals such as Chris Pirillo and SoldierKnowsBest. These people aren't particularly tech savvy, but they all have one thing in common, they are GENUINE and they put for the effort to PUT THEMSELVES OUT THERE.

So I have created a daily SEO checklist with this in mind. I want people to know I can relate to them, I am like them, I am just as broke, frustrated and busy as they are. Amidst all of that, I have something to offer them – and that is why they should stay connected with me.

I hope that this opens new opportunities, so far the list has shown some strong results, and I'm excited for people to get to know me a bit better. Perhaps that will encourage them to offer a bit of themselves from time to time.

Interesting concept. It will definitely be worth to see how things improve through this. Keep at it though!
