Of course, every person has a different perspective on what the most exciting releases of the top videogame releases for Christmas 2011 will be. Personally, I believe it is a relatively slow year, but the amount of play time associated with many of these releases is so huge, two of these videogames will keep people busy until Christmas 2012.
1. Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWToR) – PC
As many of you may already know, the latest massively multiplayer online games Star Wars: The Old Republic aims to take place long before the original Star Wars saga in a time where Jedi and Sith were common place. This game is a massively multiplayer online game where you can play as many classes including: Commando, Jedi, Smuggler and others.
The great thing about this game is it was developed by a company named Bioware and they have been working on the project for well over 5 years – unlike traditional MMO games, they decided to add a storyline to each character class. I am a huge Bioware fanboy and have been following their latest Dragon Age and Mass Effect series and also have been playing their games since Baldur's Gate.
The only downside of a massively multiplayer online game is it will have a monthly subscription fee of $15.00 to play.
Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWToR) is set to release December 20th, 2011
2. Gears of War 3 – Xbox 360
Sure it isn't a Christmas release but it is an exceptional game. I have already played through this game and as a follower of the entire series must say it is one of the best out there. If your kid is into action, guns and blowing things up – this is an excellent game for them. It also has exceptional multiplayer capabilities for online versus and horde modes.
One of the best aspects of the Gears of War 3 game is the Horde Mode, where gamers can actually work together to survive wave after wave of horde attacks. The goal is to survive 50 waves of attacks while keeping your friends alive and working together.
3. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Xbox 360, PS3, PC
For those of you who have been following my latest posts, you know I am a huge fan of Skyrim. I love it so much I even decided to do a Skyrim Giveaway For Xbox 360, Playstation 3 (PS3) or PC where the winner gets to select their system – I will be drawing it in January.
This game is so massive that it is hard to believe anyone can get less than one hundred hours or more of game time in. It takes place in a large fantasy world with swords, shields and magic. Basically the gamer is dropped into a huge world in the middle of a crisis and it is up to them to make their own path.
I have already spent hours just walking around and admiring the scenery, or crafting my own armor. This is one of the most immersive games I have ever played and strongly recommend it for anyone who enjoys fantasy RPG games. Did I mention it was single player? No internet required for this fun house.
The Rest:
For the sake of brevity, I will only mention the titles of the other games – to be honest, I don't have much time to elaborate.
4. Batman Arkham City – Xbox 360, PS3 (declared the greatest franchise game of all time)
5. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 – Xbox 360, PS3, PC (if you like the series)
6. Battlefield 3 – Xbox 360, PS3, PC (alternative to MW3)
7. Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword – Wii (It's Zelda!)
Conclusion:
There are some decent games coming out this Christmas, what are you asking for?
