TO Craig.

I have a Windows Xp and I was wondering if I should use Advanced System Care and Smart Defrag. On CNET, I have read negative and positive reviews about them. So, are they safe? And in your Faster 7 series, you recommended Auslogics and Glary Utilities for fragmentation and general clean-up. Which ones should I use? Also, is Spy-bot S and D still a good spyware cleaner?

My software recommendations are constantly evolving based upon discovery of new tools, release of new tools and updates of old tools.

As a result, I typically do not recommend Advanced Systemcare anymore. It's too resource intensive. I usually recommend a combination of Avast! Free Antivirus, Glary Utilities, Auslogics Disk Defrag and Malwarebytes Antimalware.

Those four tools will give you well rounded protection with low resource usage.
