I just recieved my Windows 7 Home premium Full Version 32bit & 64bit. The box contains 2 disks. One if you want 32bit O/S and the other if you choose to 64bit. My question is if I create the partitions and make it a dual boot system can the product key work for both? I know it's for one or the other but if it technically is on the same computer do you think it will work or do I call Microsoft for another key?

Yes. You are legally within compliance as well since the OS is installed on the same computer and only one is running at any given time.

Although it is somewhat impractical to install the 32-bit and 64-bit separate unless you have a very specific reason too.

The 64-bit operating system will support most, if not all, of your 32-bit applications.

Really. That's great. I have a computer/bicycle virtual reality training system that was developed by the Tacx company. This hardware fits a real bike to the frame and connects to the computer via what is called the interface unit. Tacx, at the time it was introduced, made the interface work with 32bit drivers. The software only lasted about 3 or 4 years then they updated to a new program called TTS. Tacx Training Software. It works with 64bit drivers. They dropped the ball on everyone when they did that because their is no more support for the original software and they want people to upgrade which would cost $150 US. Oh! Did I mention the new software does not work as stated. Loads of bugs. So I stuck with what I had but XP 32bit machines are dying. They had worked on TTS for 2 years now and each time they come out with a new updated version they charge for it. It isn't cheap. I did buy version 2 of TTS for $117 US and I had all kinds of problems. So to make a long story short, I need a 32 OS until the day they get TTS working. If that ever happens. I also do alot of gaming. That's why I have another powerful computer and I'm in the process of building an even more screemin machine. I hope that answers why I need both operating systems. If I can use the one key on the dual boot machine it saves me money and that makes me even happier.

Yeah, for very specific and sensitive applications it is usually better to opt for a separate 32-bit operating system installed separately.

You also could install a virtual machine utilizing Oracles Virtualbox freeware.

This would allow you to install a 32-bit version of, say, XP on top of your Windows 7 environment.

I utilize it all of the time at my shop. Our field service techs often need Windows 98, XP SP2, XP SP3 or even DOS.
