Did you set up your computer as a web server? For example, can people visit web pages through your computer? Or did you set up your computer as an FTP server? Where people can use an FTP client to download and upload files.

I don't know, it might have been me :P

Yes i have set up my computer as a webserver ..  for this i m using a software called "HFS" which hosts my website ..currently i registered a domain with the name http://tech-knowledgy4u.dyndns……com:7000/.. u can access my website using this link …

,,,,YES, people can visit my website …i confirmed this by asking my friends to visit … they can even download. but now the problem is that they "cannot access my site created using wordpress" which i hav linked to my website . can u tell me how do i link my wordpress blogs to my website..

Since the website is on my laptop people cant access it when i carry it to college ..so if u wanna access it visit the link between time 6 pm to 12 pm indian standard time ..b'cas this is the confirmed time my website would be accesible.

you can download the HFS software from this website http://www.rejetto.com/hfs/ ……it is easy to learn using it ..

For now i have removed the link to my wordpress blogs from my website  since it is of no use …please suggest any solution as soon as possible.

I am not familiar with the HFS hosting suite. Personally I use XAMPP. In either case, does your server support wordpress?? It requires PHP, mySQL and HTTP.

Let me know.

I am trying to do this as well. I watched your "how to video's" but cant seem to find exactly what I am looking for.

I have my own domain name that forwards to my ip on port 8000, cant use 80 as i am running a windows home server that is using a sub domain address for that.

I want to be able to type http://www.example.com and it opens my wordpress site. Do I just need to move some files into the htdocs folder?

any help is appriciated.
Chris
