how-to-add-embed-and-resize-videos-in-wordpress-blog-posts-learn-wordpress-part-7The free hosting from WordPress.com limits users when it comes to embedding videos onto their platform.  Users are not allowed to upload and host their own embedded videos unless they decide to upgrade their service.  The great thing about WordPress though, is that there is always an alternative to using their built in hosting, and many times it is better to use embedded code from external services such as YouTube.

This video will go over how to add and resize videos in WordPress blog posts.  Specifically, we show you how to embed a YouTube video into your post and resize it to fit your theme appropriately.  Wordpress does not clarify sizing of external videos very well – most likely because they would prefer you using their hosting service.

It may take a few instances of trial and error before you get the appropriate width and height you need to fit your theme, but once you have figured it out there should be no need to go back and do it again.  Embedded videos are a great way to share your own YouTube videos, or YouTube videos of others related to whatever topic your blog post is about.
