So we’ve made windows startup faster, annihilated loads of spyware, viruses, malware and trojans, optimized your windows registry and removed all of the junk – what could possibly be left? Well, there’s a couple things, right now, we need to clean up and optimize your hard drive for disk access using a tool called a “Disk Defragmenter”. Don’t worry, it’s not as scary as it sounds.

Important Notes to Take From This Lesson:

  1. Defrag is important after spyware removal and disk cleanup
  2. Defragmentation removes fragmentations on your hard drive for faster disk access
  3. Disable the auto-startup option in Smart Defrag to minimize processor overhead
  4. Disable the auto-defrag option in Smart Defrag to minimize processor overhead
  5. Use the analyze function to determine what defrag best suits your machine
  6. Run this software along with your routine maintenance schedule, usually at least once a month.
