As we continue our Hello World! series we will be going over some small, but effective, computer speedup tips. Today we will discuss how easy it is to disable many of the graphical functions in Windows XP which can free up RAM and a little bit of processor speed. You may be surprised by the results, depending on how much RAM you have in your computer.

Important Notes to Take From This Lesson:

  1. Disabling Visual Effects is best for those who do not have enough RAM.
  2. Those of you who do have enough will likely still see a speed increase.
  3. Disabling visual effects in Windows XP is easy.
  4. Right click on your computer, click properties, advanced, settings (under performance) and choose adjust for best performance.
  5. Reselect ‘use visual styles and buttons’ after switching to custom again.
  6. That’s it!
