Todays video addresses the known issue of external drives such as USB flash drives and USB thumb drives not being properly detected by windows. There are a number of reasons why a USB flash drive or USB thumb drive external drive will not be detectect by windows. The primary reason is because Windows simply doesn’t apply the proper drive letter to the USB flash drive or USB thumb drive as it is supposed too with all external drives. There is a quick and easy solution to this problem and this video will show you how.

Today’s video discusses a good free screen capture software that we use at PCMichiana and recommend to others. CAMStudio has been out for quite awhile and it has developed a reputation for being a good free screen capture software. We typically recommend this software first because it is open source and allows you to use it for free. Even if this software isn’t as good as other screen capture software you can buy, I’d still recommend you give it a try given that it is free.

Today’s video goes over how to format a USB or Firewire external hard drive in windows. This is actually a simple task. Many people find it useful to format their USB or Firewire external hard drive so they can start fresh on dumping either computer backup data or perhaps simply just to start a different organization method. Today’s question came from a user who had a hard drive become deeply infected and it needed a format – so he connected his external hard drive to a USB or Firewire enclosure he connected to his computer and was wondering what the best way to format it would be.

This video establishes whether or not the Keyscrambler Personal Free Plugin for Internet Explorer and Firefox is legitimate keylogger protection. Keyloggers can be installed into the back of your computer through a virus or trojan and they can grab keystroke information as you enter it into your computer. Optimally, the Keyscrambler Personal Free Plugin should never have to be installed because you have proper antivirus protection tools installed to prevent yourself from infection of potential keyloggers. However, we do not live in a perfect world, and not all virus protection can give the protection necessary . So keylogger protection such as Keyscrambler Personal Free Plugin is good for those of you looking for a more proactive approach.

In this video we will answer whether a router will give more security from outside attacks, viruses and trojans. The quick answer is yes, but lets delve into network security a bit further and talk about how much a router will actually protect you and how it actually works. Don’t worry, this isn’t going to be a complex lesson in network security. A router has the ability to set up a hardware firewall to protect from outside attacks that may include viruses and trojans. A router does not, however, give network security from everything – most of your security will not come from the router, but from safe surfing and knowing what it is you are downloading.
